I'm not big on brunch, but my good friend Chip Sherwood is, so when he
invited us to go we took him up on it.
And what a brunch it was! I'm honored to say that Chip asked me to
be his best man. For those of
you that do not know, Chip originally put the GregandJill website
together. He has been a great friend to Jill and I these past 8 years.
Chip’s fiancée asked Jill to be a bridesmaid as well.
The wedding will be in September.
So, Chip is getting married, going to Home Depot, and covering his
plants at night. He is
finally acting like a 30-something.
Look for me in the new U of H, Bauer College of
Business commercial. It is
running on the Today Show, Larry King, and Meet the Press.
You’ll have to watch quick as I only appear for a few moments …
but it is a close-up … and it is my good side J
We finally got our van back. It is converted and ready to go.
In fact, I drove around my neighborhood the day that I got it back.
I backed out of the garage on Monday to wait for my driving lesson.
As I was backing out, I accidentally gave it too much gas, which
made the front end swing around. This
made me fall over to the right since I did not have my seat belt on.
I was able to slam the brakes on narrowly missing our mailbox.
Not to worry though, my backup break was in the passenger's seat
and she quickly attacked the break with me!
Don’t worry; I’ll practice a little more before I come to your
neighborhood.
I have spent a bit of time researching life
expectancy of spinal cord injured survivors.
Suffice it to say that the life expectancy is much shorter than
normal. The fact that I had a
shut down of major organs and lost about half of my lung capacity does not
help either. In that vein, a
well-known motivational speaker, Art Berg, who happened to be a
quadriplegic, died last week. He
was a source of great inspiration, especially for Jill.
As you might expect, we were both deeply saddened. He was 39 years
old.
On a closing note, I have written my testimony to be
shared at church. I will let
you know when I plan to give it in case you would like to come and see it.
In case you miss it, I will also put it on the website.
Jeremiah 10:23 – “I know, Oh Lord, that a
man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his
steps."
